This place was recommended to me by someone else. I'll reserve commenting about the person who recommended it. Nice guy, but I should have heeded the visual cues... I really want to give LFH better reviews because the service was pretty good despite the fact that we had a brand-spankin-new server, and the view was *spectacular*--we were practically right on top of the beach. But oh lordie, the food... For starters, I think this place is way too pricey for the quality of food presented. The black beans and rice were made with...canned black beans. Quelle Horreur! --Like, the ones you get at the grocery store. o_0 Unfortunately, the black beans were not rinsed well, and there was "can juice" throughout the rice. ANNNND, the dish was quite bland (for the two forkfuls that I tasted). For the rice (and for the price...) I was expecting more--maybe brown rice, wild rice or something--but no--it was just plain, white rice. For my main entre, I ordered one of the small portions of the butterfly shrimp (I'm not a heavy eater and was happy to see that someone had a "small" portion size option for a change). Problem: The shrimp was salty, the batter itself sucked, and the shrimp came from Indonesia (but I could see the Atlantic right out my window... o.0). --And oh yeah--and the "small" portion was *really*...small. Three shrimp. I wasn't expecting twenty, but I wasn't quite expecting *three*, either. Even one more might have made me happier, but no, there were three very badly seasoned shrimp. My husband had the red snapper with some kind of sauce--a sauce that was bright orange and seemed like it might glow in the dark. It was almost like something Velveeta-y on steroids. (I regret not having taken a picture to prove this.) I was also a little disappointed because the place didn't seem incredibly clean--knotty pine paneling for walls notwithstanding. The tables were a tad sticky, and there were crumbs on the floor all around our seats. Of all of the eating out we did in a week (ugh!), this was by far the worst of our choices. Overpriced cafeteria-fare of the seafood variety. For people whose tastebuds may have expired after having reached a certain age. That is all.

I got this recommendation from my hotel. This place was packed and got there early after my class ended. They had the special which was the local catch which I tried but I forget what exactly. Parking was a little tricky with lots of locals coming here. I got a polo shirt which was pretty cool too. Get there early to avoid the crowd.

The one thing that I've noticed about this restaurant is that it has a name for itself so it's a major tourist trap. Whenever family or friends are visiting they want to try the Lynnhaven Fish House and I try try try to talk them out of it but they want to try it anyways! So I end up going there. The view at the restaurant is very nice...I will give it that. But for some reason this place is like a mecca for the older crowd. That's not a huge problem if their food was better but to me their food seems catered to the older crowd so it makes everything seem mushy. I have been unimpressed with their food everytime I've gone there. With the plethora of Seafood joints in just this area alone going to the Lynnhaven Fish House is a miss.

Had a delicious lunch here with my sister and nephew. We all enjoyed our meal immensely starting with the she crab soup. I had the tower of seafood salad which was beautifully presented and delicious. We ended our meal with a mouth watering peach melba. As others have noted the hush puppies were wonderful. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and helpful.

The food is ok, not thrilling but not tragic. The service is what really gives this place so few stars. When we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation. We did not, and from that moment onwards...we were "the uninvited guests." Considering the place had plenty of empty tables, I have no idea why this was insulting to them. The waitress we had was ridiculously grumpy. Can I have the platter without the oysters and replace it with something else seafood-y? NO came the booming voice. Ok... What do you recommend? More angry face from the waitress and a heavy sigh. Really? Madam, I'm going to be buying food from your fine establishment. Try selling it. Try being nice. Then, I waited 10 full minutes between drink refills - as in the waitress took my glass and disappeared into another galaxy with it. Twice. She hurried to get us out of there, slamming the dessert down as she cleared off our plates. Best part? I accidentally forgot my leftovers on the table, meandered to the front of the restaurant, taking my time to leave. Did anyone run after me to give me what was half of my meal in a box? Uh....NO. That's ok, I'm sure I can figure out how to spend my money elsewhere.

I have been here a couple of times and both were similar in that the restaurant feels 'tired'. The view is beautiful, especially if you're lucky enough to get one if the tables along the perimeter wall. The atmosphere is just off. It feels like perhaps the place was a little elegant in its past but now the interior feels dated and stifling. The wait staff was nice but no energy. The food was really tasty but to me the atmosphere will probably send me to one of the many other options in Virginia Beach

I have been going here for a number of years and it is reliably a good meal with a nice view of the water. I usually have simple broiled fish; my wife usally tries one of their "sauces" - either way it is a good meal. I really enjoy that dinner comes with a salad and vegetables. My teenage daughter devours the hushpuppies which are pretty good. We started off with the she crab soup and liked it - a lot of chunks of crab in there. Dessert was enjoyed by all with two orders of chocolate carmel cake being enough for three of us. I would recommend as a little bit more upscale alternative to Rudees and Rockafellers.

Fresh and delicious. My favorite restaurant in VA Beach and it always has been. A lot of work goes in to how well the staff prepares the food. Not too pricy, either.

My wife and I visit the Lynnhaven Fish House when we are in the Virginia Beach area. The She-Crab soup is a house specialty and my wife insists on coming here for that each time we come. I had the grilled Mahi along with black beans and rice while my wife this time had one crab cake and a half order of scallops. All the food arrived promptly and the quality was excellent as well. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to those that find themselves in the area.

Went during Valentine's Day. Everyone was very friendly. The food was amazing. We had the she crab soup & it was very creamy with lots of crab. We ordered the special that consisted of huge scallops, shrimp & crab meat. The food was hot & very tasty. The whole dining experience was impressive. I would definitely go back & recommend this place.

Amazing!! The best calamari and she-crab soup of my life! I cannot wait to go back. Service was excellent, food was fabulous and the view is gorgeous!

This has probably been the first Yelp disappointment. We ate here earlier in the week, because we wanted fresh fish, and the reviews were good. I've had plenty of fresh fish on the Atlantic and Gulf side of the US and this fish either wasn't cooked right or wasn't fresh. I ordered the flounder, grilled; it was supposed to be fresh local. It appeared broiled sprinkled with some seasoning like Old Bay. It was cooked in too much oil or maybe over cooked because it wasn't light and flaky like flounder I've had in the past at other restaurants on the Jersey shore in December. Their fish comes with a Mediterranean salad. This is an oil based salad, lots of onions, green onions, and another herb. Heavy onion and oil flavor. Make sure you request this on the side. Our waiter thankfully served this on the side in a dish. It would have overpowered the fish had it been on top like usually served. The person who said this was a beautiful salad must not get out much for fine dining because it was kind of bi-colored and bland in looks, you could tell it was a few days old. I usually don't have tartar sauce, but they served this on the side. It was good. Since it was lunch I had 1 side, baked sweet potato with marshmallows. The marshmallows were crunchy on top, but I would have liked them broiled a bit longer for a light caramel color. The hush puppies were good, but I would have preferred them hot, fresh made in small batches. There were so few people because of the season that they probably make them in batches and use until gone. I tried the she -crab soup. It was good and hot, with a few strands of crab. I haven't tried that from other places, but it was kind of like New England clam chowder without the potatoes, creamier, and a bit sweet. My husband had the NC fried catfish, he liked very much. Both of our pieces of fish were supposed to be 8oz, but his was twice the size as my flounder. The service was great and the place was clean, but I pay for great food. The pier next door charges $8 per person to walk out on it. This is one place I wouldn't try again if we vacation in Virginia.
(2)Kai R.
A lot of older people but there were also some families w/ small children. The salad w/ vinaigrette was fresh and gtg. I'm not an expert on crab cakes but for the few crab cakes I've ordered the one I had here was great...loved it. I had broiled flounder...tasted fresh and was not dry at all...could have used some of my own seasoning. My wife had the she crab soup...she loved it and took a recipe home w/ her...they have print outs next to the lobster tank. Waitress was very friendly and it was not too busy on a Friday night...was seated immediately.
(4)Trina V.
we had the sesame seared yellow-fin tuna, jumbo crab cakes, she crab soup, hush puppies, christo sauce and a chocolate cake. we were satisfied with our order. it was pricey, but eveyrthing was perfect. the venue looks and feels old school... but we were there for the food and the view... not that bad at all.
(4)Jackie P.
I had my wedding reception there September 2011. I have to say they where AWESOME ! My guest enjoyed the food and great service. The lynnhaven staff went over and beyond my expectations. I was a little iffy about having my reception there but I am more then happy with the outcome. There prices where very reasonable. They made cute personalized menus for us and help set up my decorations. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I will be back to eat there when I am in the area ! Thanks Lynnhaven for maing my day very special !!
(5)Sherbear P.
Good food. Best she-crab soup in the area!!! Outdated decor and tables are too close together.
(4)Bill L.
We've beeen going to the Lynhaven Fish house since 1979. Our five or six visits during the past several years have been less than stellar. Most recently, we were hoping to have a bottle of wine while waiting for a table but couldn't get bar service in the bar. In fact, the overall attitude - from the valet parking to the front house staff - is that they are doing the customer a favor by showing up for work each day. The servers are still doing a great job,as always. Once we were seated, I ordered the seafood pasta. The seafood was swimming in sauce that tasted like it came out of a can of Spaghetti-O's. My wife had the grilled salmon. She had to use the cucumber wasabi sauce that was left over from the grilled shrimp appetizer to add some depth of flavor to the fish. It's surprising to us that the chef isn't that forward thinking. It's a shame to see a once great restaurant just leaning on their reputation and doing nothing to remain great.
(2)Greg T.
I have had several dinners here and always had a great dinner. My father loves this place also. If you are going to take someone special out for a great meal and wonderful setting this is the joint.
(4)Alyssa D.
Wow, I cannot believe I've lived here my entire life and have never been here! This view was incredible. Service was decent, I felt a little rushed- I was still working on my salad when the entree came out, so my fish got a little cold. I got the broiled salmon with a baked potato. I wanted grilled salmon, but because of my shellfish allergy, the waitress suggested broiled. That was very nice. The salmon was fantastic. I was actually able to eat the whole thing there, but I did take the baked potato home. I'm sure it would have been great in the restaurant, it was not very good reheated at home. My husband got the fried oysters (he never orders anything fried) and he loved them. He also got the she crab soup and said it was really good. For dessert, I really wanted the key lime pie but it had almonds on it, which I don't eat, so that was disappointing. I wish they would make one with almonds and one without, especially for people that may be allergic. I settled for the cheesecake with strawberries. Not the best I've had, but it was good. A huge portion. I might go for the orange cream cake next time. All in all, it was a great time!
(5)Zan V.
Went to this restaurant for the first time and I can truly say that it was a truly disappointing experience.. Very disappointed. Old world, passe style, dated menu and decor. Will not be going back.
(1)Molly H.
We just moved to the area and have heard good things about this place so we decided to give it a shot. First of all, we walked in and pretty much everyone there was 70+ so not exactly a young happening place. Honestly though I wouldn't care if the food was good. So we sit down and my husband orders the crab stuffed lobster special and I ordered grilled mahi with christo sauce. My fish was WAY over cooked and tough and my baked potato was cold. The christo sauce was nothing special or exciting. My husband was happy with his lobster but its hard to mess up lobster. Overall I left feeling hungry and unimpressed. The service was nice and friendly. Maybe I'll give it another shot for lunch but I don't know.

My favorite restaurant in the time that I have been at Virginia Beach. Our waiter Jeff was very accommodating, and was the best waiter I've ever had. I have never experienced service like that before, so I recommend you to ask for Jeff if you ever plan on visiting this restaurant. I was going to order snapper, but I could tell that it wouldn't be his first choice, so I asked him, and he recommended me flounder which was the most fresh that day, suggesting the best ways to cook it. The food was delicious, and Jeff always made sure to refill our waters, making the occasional jokes, never rushed us, but we also didn't have to ask for things like the bill. He was super attentive.
(5)Erin L.
Wow! Great meal, great service at a reasonable price! Bar served great cocktails, too! Fabulous local restaurant, never eat at a chain
(5)Matt B.
Service was excellent: fast, personal, and "above and beyond". The flounder sandwich was the best fish I have ever found (and I am from the Gulf Coast). The view of Chesapeake Bay and the beach is wonderful.
(5)Gray G.
After all the positive reviews, I was so excited to try this place. First, the food. I ordered a piece of Mahdi and thought it was a great deal (17.99) for FRESH fish, a side, and a salad. So, the food was good, fresh, and a good deal. The drink list was a major disappointment. Only 2 red wine by the glass options and the one I got was not good (not for 8 a glass). The atmosphere might be fun in the summer, but we're a mid-twenties couple and were surrounded by 70somethings. Not quite the scene we hoped for. I would choose one of the other waterfront restaurants for atmosphere every time!!

Wow how stories differ.... Four of us went ages 20 - 50 and we all very much enjoyed our meals!!!! We have been in the area a month and this was the best seafood we've had. All of us had different items off the menu and enjoyed them ALL. Every item was cooked perfectly. We all felt we definitely received our value for the price - seafood is not cheap... I highly recommend this restaurant and I suspect so did the line of people waiting to get in as we left - go early.
(5)Jacqui R.
I went here for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary (congrats Nanny & Papa!) The seafood at this place was outstanding, it's so fresh and seasoned/cooked absolutely perfectly. You can tell this place isn't messing around with the seafood. You pretty much need a reservation here and it can be a little stuffy. Food is very expensive, but I don't mind paying for excellent and fresh seafood. The other cool thing about Lynnhaven Fish House is the view. It's right on the ocean down at the oceanfront and you're able to look out at a beautiful view while you eat. They have a large wine list which is nice. They usually have some kind of specials on fish at least, even though it still tends to be expensive. If you're looking for some of the best crab, fish, and shrimp in the area you should check this place out.
(4)Jason F.
Great food good price and awesome staff.
(4)Chel R.
The view from this restaurant is spectacular. I'm vegetarian, so I'm not really into a place called a "fish house." But it turns out, they offer a very nice brunch, with vegetarian options! My friend and I had a wonderful time sipping mimosas and enjoying the view. So, even if you are not a seafood fan, there's something here for you.
(4)Larry C.
Yep, it was fish. I had Rainbow Trout from Idaho. The thing i was really impressed with is how the trout was filleted. It didn't have any bones that i could detect and the manner in which it was cut was beautiful. I had the fried trout and the breading was very light and perfectly cooked. The Baked potato was nothing special, but it did come with sour cream with chives and that made it better. The salad was so-so. This is the second time Ive eaten here in the past 3 years and ill eat here the next time I come here as well.

I remember going here once 6 years ago while I still lived in VA Beach and thinking the place was really fancy. Came down to VA Beach for spring break and decided to try it out again for lunch. Definitely go for the fresh fish selections; the higher price tag is worth it. The locally-caught grilled, thick-cut fillet of Mahi-mahi was the clear winner of the night, arriving with the juices steaming on the plate. Tender, meaty, and with just enough seasoning to prevent overpowering the taste of the fish, the taste was sublime. I tried some of the fried red snapper, which was good but not quite to par to the mahi. Frying things in batter just seems cheap to me for some reason :p. My other friend, who was on a budget, ordered a remarkably forgettable fried oyster sandwich. The oyster was tasteless, and the sandwich didn't have anything else on it, making the whole thing look pretty unappetizing. Oh, try not to get full on the complimentary hush puppies ahaha. Service was excellent and the waitress provided pleasant small talk. Water was refilled on a regular basis, and the views of the bay were amazing. Food: mahi-mahi was pricey so 4.5 fried red snapper 4 fried oyster sandwich 2 Service and atmosphere/views 5 Overall 4, would definitely recommend to a friend and would come again, skipping the fried dishes.
(4)Lia D.
Went here for brunch on Sunday. I can't believe I lived here for two years and never heard of this place! The restaurant's dining room is literally set over the beach. There are windows all around and you can see the bay and the beach. It seems like you are RIGHT over the water, actually. It's pretty neat. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had grilled fresh local yellow fin tuna, which was very good. Other standouts from around the table: the crab cake, the flounder (which was a HUGE portion), and the mahi mahi. The hush puppies were yummy, the calamari was decent. They had this orange cake dessert that my friend ordered. I insisted I wouldn't like it b/c I hate creamsicles (yeah I am weird), but it was actually pretty good...ok ok, I'll say it...it's worth a try. Even though I wasn't blown away by the food, I will probably return for a date w/j.biz near a window over the bay.
(4)Rick S.
Great location on the water. Food was excellent, servers were attentive and friendly. She crab soup was great!
(4)K M.
Seated by the owner himself, the service was beyond five star. No wait, though it is the off season, they looked prepared for crowds. Never found the bottom of my water or tea, food was prompt and exactly as ordered. The hush puppies are a little smaller than I'm used to, but well seasoned. Quality of food was much better than I expected for the price. Will be returning next time I crave seafood. She-crab soup lived up to the hype, even though I'd never had it before. Big chunks of crab meat in a white/creamy soup, they even brought out extra sherry, though IMO it didn't need any more. Tried the local founder, broiled with Bourbon Sauce, and it was the best fish I'd had in such a long time. Even the Greek salad was very well put together. Fabulous menu across the board, I wish I had room for dessert! Again, it was the off season, and they do have valet parking, so if it's busy, a reservation would be a must.
(5)Jason G.
Every summer when my family heads to VA Beach, we have to make a stop at Lynnhaven Fish House. As other posts mention, this restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but it's always good to get out of the hustle bustle of the vacation spot. The ambiance is wonderful -- the dining room is set on the sand, looking straight into the water. At night the lights on the bay glisten off the water and makes for a very romantic meal. The service has always been great. The servers have always been very professional and make great recommendations for wine and the fresh catches. The she-crab soup is a must! This soup is a local "delicacy" that is a lot like cream of crab soup -- very heavy, but delicious as a starter. We have also tried the fried shrimp (very normal), red snapper, crab cakes, crab imperial, founder and mahi mahi; all were very delicious. This, in my opinion, is one of the best seafood restaurants in VA Beach!
(5)L P.
Wow! Surprised to see so many poor reviews. I tried the restaurant last summer and loved this place! This is a must try if you are in the Tidewater area and craving seafood! Its a bit expensive, but that is to be expected amongst seafood restaurants in the area as a whole and this one is well worth the price in comparison to other local options. It is much better than any chain or touristy restaurants you will find and a bit off the beaten path (if you are staying at the beach you will have to drive). The view of the water outside is beautiful. In terms of the food, 2 items stand out here that must be noted. First off are the hush puppies. Best I have ever had and one of the best appetizers I have ever had anywhere, yet these are a free compliment to your meal! These little fried delights are airy and crisp and amazing when pulled apart and smeared with butter. Secondly, the she-crab soup here is a MUST!!! It is award winning for a reason, it is the BEST in the VA Beach/Tidewater area (and believe me, I have tried them all)! So rich and creamy with a generous amount of premium, lump crab meat. I had the scallops lynnhaven, which was very good, but wished I had tried the fresh fish (it looked divine being served to other patrons). My husband doesn't eat seafood, so he had the steak, which was just OK, but that was to be expected from a restaurant that specializes in seafood dishes. The lady at the front who greeted us was very pleasant and very personable. We enjoyed chatting with her before and after our meal. The wait staff was also personable and on top of everything! We will be back next time we visit the area!
(5)Jamie H.
I've been coming to the fish house for about three years, everytime I try to try something different. They have many daily fish specials, a large wine list and pretty good staff.
(4)Darren S.
This restaurant is located near Lynnhaven Bay, a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of the Virginia Beach boardwalk, right on the beach with a great view of the water. The food here was excellent, there are some set menu items as well as a fairly extensive list of "fresh catch" items that can be prepared a number of different ways. I liked it how they mentioned the origin location of each fresh catch, because when travelling I like to eat local food, so it was easy to settle on the local flounder. The portion of fish was generous and my preparation with shrimp and snow peas enhanced the flavor. Our starter of mushrooms stuffed with crabs was exceptional, but they also offer She Crab soup, a local speciality I tried elsewhere the next day and really enjoyed. My only complaint about this restaurant is that our server was not particulary attentive or friendly. I had to prompt him several times to refill my water glass, and asked him to recommend a popular red wine (the selections by the glass seemed so ordinary), and he started talking about chardonnay... if he seemed to be trying harder and was more focused on service, I would have been happier, but still have no regrets trying this spot out. Keep in mind they don't take reservations so either arrive before the dinner rush, or plan on spending some time in the bar or walking on the nearby beach while you wait for your table.
(4)Ranier D.
This is one of the better seafood restaurants in VB. The seafood is fresh... next to the bay and the ocean, duh? Situated next to the beach on the Chesapeake Bay, the views are awesome if you get a table near the windows to the bay. They have daily fresh fish specials which you can ordered cooked the way you want it. The best thing about this place is they use top their caesers salad with fresh anchovies. That alone earns is three stars. Another two for great food and service.
(5)Tatyana M.
We visited this restaurant twice. First time was 5 years ago and we were impressed with their mussles and she crab soup. Other dishes were not so good (though we ordered fresh catch of the day). This time we had lunch and ordered she crab soup. We could not belive it was the same place we ate before. The soup was thick as flour clayster with few tiny pieces of crab somewhere there and ABSOLUTLY NO TASTE AT ALL (a bowl is $6.99). The second order was called something like crab Napoleon salad. Let me tell you! For $16.99 you'll get a lot of small shrimps, some amount of not the best quality of crab meat on the big leaf of lettuce + some pieses of mango, red pepper or something else they call mango salsa, and all of it decorated with absolutly YUKY orange colored dressing. Eating this we could not understand what brought all these ingrediences together? It was absolutly horrible taste! The service was slow and unattentive. We were actually lucky not to have dirty knife droped on our clothes. After THAT kind of lunch for $30 + tax and tips = no enjoyment at all we decided never to come near this establishment and advice you do not repeat our mistake.
(1)Dan C.
I had heard so much about this place over the years we decided to check it out one evening. It was packed. Service was still prompt and professional. I ordered the Snapper. Disappointed. Overcooked. And unevenly cooked. My wife ordered the two lobster tails dinner, which was overcooked too. She says the bisque was good. I don't think I'll be back. When I pay a $100 check and feel disappointed, I find it tough to give 'em another chance.
(2)Swirly C.
Fresh Fish and great atmosphere. We came here on our Honeymoon for dinner while in Virginia Beach and the food was delicious and the staff was great. We had seats over looking the window and they even comp'ed us a glass of champagne!!! .
(5)Wendy H.
Great she crab soup I don't like that almost everything else on the menu is fried it's a little pricey but its pretty good for the tourists
(3)Athonia C.
This beachfront restaurant is surprisingly accomodating to vegetarians. The views of the Atlantic Ocean are nice and, for a white tablecloth restaurant, the prices are in line.
(3)Pat T.
Prime Rib Special on Monday Nite!!!- I hope this becomes a regular feature/offering... I just had undoubtedly the best prime rib dinner of my life! (No caveat... "at a seafood restaurant") - The management and chef have put together the wherewithal - all new oven-roasting equipment just for this meal - a source of USDA Prime... a butcher who knows how to age... and they have come up with a "special" that is "to die for!" Get the word out... our favorite seafood palace has the best beef dinner in town! I hope we don't lose this one to the non-believers!
(5)Leland L.
This is definitely an older person's place. They need to update the decor and make it not so stuffy. But, the food and service are excellent. It is the type of place to take a date you want to impress. Lunch offers excellent water views. Parking is a little weird, but overall thumbs up.
(3)Kat V.
This place boasts to be one of the best seafood restaurants in town... Eh. Pretty good food but too bad they can't boast to have the best service in town=/ 1) Ordered the clam CHOWDER and the she crab soup- I quickly ordered these without reading the description, but doesn't the word "chowder" suggest that you will be served a cream-based soup? I was surprised to see that the chowder was served to me in a broth - why call it chowder if it's not a chowder? Why wouldn't you call it a clam soup? Pretty confusing if you ask me. The she crab soup came out (as a chowder-a cream based soup). It was creamy and good. I'd order it again. 2) Oysters were nice and fresh. bonus. 3) Crab cakes- yummy! Fish sandwich- OK. 4) Ordered pasta and they ran out of noodles. WHATTT- you have 6 different pasta dishes and then pasta on the kids menu, and u ran outta noodles? C'MON! The service was unfortunately lacking with the exception of the incredible lady manager that night. The manager cleared our table, filled our drinks and checked up on us more than our own waitress. Our blonde waitress that night however, forgot to ring in 2 orders, never filled our drinks, and went MIA after our food was served. When we looked around, we saw her along with another group of waiters sitting around talking around the bar. She said the bartender will be taking care of us now, but isn't it proper restaurant practice to not be visibly doing NOTHING while the table you transfered were still eating? Shouldn't your table also get a warning, so that we aren't waiting around for her?. Plus, if you have no more tables, shouldn't you be bussing your station or wrapping silverware or go home? Why were there a bunch of waiters idling the night away? The restaurant apparently closes at 10 on Fridays , but it was only 10:15 by the time we left, so it's not like we were keeping her there all night either! The food is decent enough for me to return and I'm thankful that the wonderful manager that night salvaged our trip, but I'd still encourage my family to eat at Captain George's next time we are in Virginia Beach in lieu to the mediocre service we had that night.
(2)Carnelia G.
Now compared to Captain George's, Lynnhaven Fish House is actually a nice seafood restaurant. Right off the Lynnhaven fishing pier, the restaurant is right on the beach with great views from many tables. Maybe it's me, but I feel much better about the freshness of my seafood when my restaurant is actually near water. In addition to the view and the ambiance, the food is excellent. They have unique and tasty dishes that really show the local flavor of the area. The she-crab soup is especially top notch and I recommend it as an appetizer so you can save room for the Mahi.

I enjoyed my meal here quite a bit. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was how packed it was. Any restaurant that can fill the tables on a week night, in the off season in a tourist area is doing something right. I got a 1 pound lobster, stuffed with crab with sides for 20 bucks and it was great. Everyone else at the table was impressed as well. Not sure how soon we will be back to Virginia Beach but a meal here w ill be in the cards. My only negative was the she crab soup. It just tasted like super sweet cream to me, but it was the first time I have had it so not knowing if maybe it is just something I don't like, I don't think it is fair to dock a star for it.

Well past it's prime. Food was marginal at best and expensive.
(2)Christine G.
My husband and I went during restaurant week and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The service staff was friendly and timely. Our food was sensational, the view of the Bay was tranquil. All in all, I'd recommend going!
(4)Reba B.
WOW! A incredible dining experience. The atmosphere looking out on the Chesapeake Bay made the dining even more enjoyable. We were introduced to Cockles for the first time and they were deli sh to the palate! I enjoyed the Mediterranean Salad with shrimp, artichokes and feta was a wonderful choice. My husband enjoyed the crab cake and it was the best ever. The Lynnhaven Fish House has a reputation of being one of the best in the area and we now know why. I look forward to our next trip to Virginia Beach so that we can experience this incredible dining again.
(5)Lily S.
Before you even enter, you've got great friendly front door service. Nice place with a beautiful beach view. Munch on some hushpuppies while deciding what to order is a nice treat. Had the soft shell crab sandwich and steamed clams and raw oysters and crab cake also you can get a side order of white creamy she crab soup. Got sides of sweet potato with marshmallow and rice and beans. What draws me back are just the raw oysters, crab cake and sweet potato with marshmallow. The soft shell crab was good but too salty for me and the clams were too bland and tiny. She crab soup was like new england style chowder, good but not fulfilling. Our waitress was super sweet!

The place is terrific for seafood. Reasonable prices for food and wine. Definate recommendation but make reservations.
(4)Terry K.
Simply amazing is all I can say. Scallops Lynnhaven is to die for! Scallops so buttery and delicate they seem to melt in your mouth. Service is outstanding and the food quality is A#1. Great view of the ocean too! A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Highly recommended if you want quality seafood and have a special occasion to do so...
(5)Richard G.
Ugh!!! The food here is horrible. Minus the hushpuppies save your money. Everything is made with MSG. This place has not changed since the 70's and the food is oily $ everyone is at least 60 yrs old if not older. If your old & have no more taste buds left & you like the retirement home feel then this is the place for you. Only plus was once we let the manager know of how we felt he took care of us.
(1)Stephanie W.
Some of the best seafood, ever. I'm from the west coast and this place is amazing. First they serve hush puppies as an appetizer. They aren't the best I've ever had, but they're good and a nice way to start dinner. The She-Crab Soup was good as well, I've never had anything like it. Our table had the soft shell crab, flounder, and jumbo shrimp. Everything was delicious, fresh, and tasty. The service was excellent too.
(4)George R.
Upscale meals and ambience. Waiters who know how to treat you well. Great view of ships arriving in Hampton Roads. Expensive ($50) for lunch for two, especially since there was no wine.

So, like every other Soldier, I'll start off my story with, "so no shit, there I was..." It was pouring like someone was really trying to just add to the oceans...traffic was slowed everywhere...the rain caused smaller causeways to flood...there was a foot of running water traveling across Shore Dr. between the car wash and Taste Gourmet...lightning was striking so close it was affecting radio reception... And my dumbass was heading to a UYE to meet some VB Yelpers. Initial thoughts were that the outside looked rather in auspicious - it's no wonder that I've driven by this place year after year without stopping in for a drink or a bite. Undeterred by the rain (and wondering if my umbrella was going to get hit by lightning), I wandered into the main door and headed for the bar. Upon reaching the bar, I looked around and identified a few faces that I think looked like Yelpers. I sat down and kept quiet to listen in for a bit, quietly assessing the crowd to see whether or not I was going to stay for entertainment or if I was going to be bored to suicide. Instead, I was treated to this: Girl 1: OMG, he totally needs to step up and give you an answer... Girl 2: Well, yeah, I think it's not a good situation but I think it'll work out... Girl 1: You're not hearing me *insert name here* - I can't believe he's not committing to this trip! I mean, how hard is it - it's NYE! So thus, another UYE was in full swing and I decided to introduce myself after realizing that it wasn't going to be a crowd of brain eating zombies. I quickly ordered a calamari appetizer to catch the 10% HH special and Dave was nice enough to give me a few samples of the local brews so I could choose (I selected Legend Brown Ale - tastes like Newcastle in some respects). After some pleasant convo, I went ahead and decided on some food - hearing about the stuffed shrimp, I lamented that I wouldn't be able to eat some locally caught flounder until Dave told me that he could talk to the chef to get that added to my plate. The stuffed shrimp were divine - not dry, not overly moist, and a perfect party of crabs and shrimp dancing the night away on my palate. Of course, the flounder was nice an flaky with a great coating of flour batter to complement the fish without overpowering it. Of course, the hush puppies also ensured a great meal by setting the stage with a great taste of spices and cornmeal. Overall, a great meal and I'll have to make sure this is a stop when the view is a bit better. But tonight, great service and Yelpers helped me pass the time on my trip.

We had a party of 9 and did not have to wait on a Sunday night. The waiter was great. No complaints at all. The service was on spot. The food....ooo the food...... it was BANGING!!! I loved it. I had the seafood vodka sauce dish. It was wayyyy toooo much to finish. Then had the key lime pie. There was a party in my tummy...so yummy...so yummy. Check the place out if you go to VA beach. It is pricey but worth it,
(5)Stephanie W.
Came during restaurant week with a party of 9 on a Saturday! We were celebrating my mom's b-day (1/20) and my dad's b-day (1/22). We were seated at a huge round table, which was nice so we could all have a conversation without having to yell down a long table. And BTW - this was my first visit to Lynnhaven Fish House, which is amazing considering I grew up in VB. But honestly, the food was so fresh and so delicious. I started with the app of grilled tiger shrimp, and while they could have been a little hotter, I don't hold that against them because we did have a large party and it was very busy. I tried my boyfriend's she crab soup and was not surprised by how delicate the she crab was because they have been voted several times as the best she crap soup around. The salad was standard, nothing fancy. For my main course I enjoyed a trio of grilled mahi, salmon, and flounder with a mediterranean topping which consisted of scallions and onions with olive oil (i think). The fish was fresh, cooked perfectly, and the topping added something nice to the mix. And OHHH the dessert - raspberry sorbet....MMMMM MMMMM GOOD!! I wanted like 2 more scoops. Overall, I will be back to Lynnhaven Fish House and I'm glad I finally ate here after all these years.

The torrents were unleashed as I drove towards the latest Unofficial Yelp Event in Hampton Roads. The radio blasted an Emergency Alert message stating that funnel clouds were all around. Lighting wasn't crackling in the distance, it was exploding right in front of me. But seafood and the company of my fellow Yelpers beckoned. I would not be deterred. The great deluge would not keep me away. I finally arrived at the Lynnhaven Fish House and made my way to the bar. I managed to order a dirty Bombay Sapphire Martini while saying hello to my friends. This kind of multi-tasking I can do! I ordered a dozen plump, ice cold oysters on the half-shell to go with my libation. The combination is breath-taking, I assure you. All brine and botanicals. The crabcake sandwich was one of the best I have had in a while. All crabmeat and no filler. Fried just right and the size of a hockey puck. I would order it again and again. While I only sampled a tiny portion of the extensive menu, I enjoyed what I had. It met the standard of being fresh and delicious. If they can achieve just those two things all while churning out excellent martinis, I can muster no complaints.
(4)Janet L.
Great service. Oysters on the half shell were excellent; broiled catfish was good. She crab soup was just okay. Bread pudding was dried out and burned; the worse I have ever tasted. Sent back and taken off the guest check.
(3)Nathan W.
Meh. Nice enough. The food was plentiful, but pretty heavy and not particularly noteworthy. I saw a sign advertising that Southwest Airlines magazine listed the restaurant as having some of the best seafood in the world... Definitely not. Average... Decently priced.
(2)Cameron W.
Excellent Customer Service! This place may be a little pricey but the food and portions are great! I had a great waiter and a great time! I will definitely go back!
(5)Love W.
I gave this place 3 stars because it was just OK and nothing spectacular. Pros: The staff was incredibly friendly. When we first walked in the manager and a couple staff welcomed us, but then again we were like the first couple people there for dinner so there were a few of the servers just standing around. The calamari is amazeballs! Holy cow the portions were huge for this appetizer! I was surprised at how cheap it was compared to everything else. Cons/mediocre: This was our first experience there and we pulled up and me and my husband both looked at each other like, "this...is..it..?" Let's just say based on what we've heard, we were surprised to see that it looked like that. We were expecting to see something a bit more fancy. The she crab soup is not as great as they play it up to be. I'm sorry but it tastes just like farm fresh she crab soup! Don't get me Wrong I liked it but it was definitely hyped up! The view was ok. Yes it's overlooking the ocean, but I thought it would be more intimate and romantic. It's on a public and busy beach so don't expect anything secluded and intimate.

It's become a family tradition to dine here on Independence Day, a few hours prior to the fireworks because of the excellent experience LFH provides. We arrived at 6:30 on July 4th, a Saturday and found that there were a handful of tables available, though none along the windows. We usually dine earlier in the evening so we can linger and enjoy the view and consume more homemade Hush Puppies. But we were on the beach all day and didn't want to leave because it was a "stolen" day with the forecast having called for rain and thunderstorms. Upon our arrival, the front door was opened by none other than Chris Kyrus, a member of the proprietary family. He greeted us warmly, shook hands and wished is a Happy Fourth. We did not make reservations because there was only four of us (we just learned that they are not available for ALL parties). Oops! Note to self for next time! We did not get a window seat, as I mentioned, but there really aren't any bad seats in the house; all have a view, even if limited. The ambience is typical of an established seafood restaurant: stuffed trophy fish over the windows and sea life sculptures on the walls. Lynnhaven Fish House (LFH) is a Gold Medal Winner in the "Best of the Beach" competition, most notably for their She Crab Soup. Many years they've also won for best Seafood Restaurant, etc. and I can testify as to why the locals and tourists flock here to dine. We've had many servers wait on us but none are as INCREDIBLE as Rob. Ask for his section and if he's on that night, you're sure to thank me. You can't miss him, in fact you often feel his booming footsteps before you see him. He's at least 6'8, though it's hard to judge when sitting. He ducks to enter the kitchen and bring out arguably the best Hush Puppies in Virginia Beach. He's warm and welcoming and if you request him, he always makes a point to thank you at least once. He knows the specials by heart and makes recommendations that we nearly always follow. (We learned he's an avid fisherman on one night he wasn't working!) He talks to kids like regular folks and looks to them to order for themselves. Many servers defer to the parents (a pet peeve of mine; they CAN speak!). He's quick with drinks, fresh "puppies" and a glass never goes empty. He checks on your satisfaction and progress enough, but not too much to be intrusive. He's an absolute GEM. Tonight, as at every visit, we asked for a basket of Hush Puppies and as always, they were tender, light, seasoned perfectly with real kernels of corn throughout. My husband ordered a bowl of the famous She Crab Soup to share with our oldest son. LOTS of crab with a rich cream base and excellent seasoning. It normally comes with a sidecar if sherry but it's not my husband's taste (the soup doesn't need it either!). For dinner, we followed Rob's suggestion to try the Chef's Special: Oven Baked Alaskan Halibut with a Basil Vinaigrette over Parmesan Peppercorn Risotto and fresh veggies. We substituted the veggies for a baked potato since my husband and I were splitting the entree. The fish was as white as freshly fallen snow and done so perfectly you barely needed a fork to flake it into delectable bites. The basil vinaigrette was a different, but spectacular accent to a seafood meal and the risotto was fine so well I almost asked to apologize to the staff in charge of all that stirring. :-) The baked potato was tender and perfectly wrapped so my husband could top it as he chose. Our kids ordered the Fish & Chips and Popcorn Shrimp kids platters. The portions are hearty and don't scoff at the choice of Popcorn Shrimp. These are not the typical "bits" of tiny shrimp with way too much breaking. Instead they are nicely sized small (32-40 count size) shrimp perfectly battered and fried. Our youngest is a bit of a seafood connoisseur and these rank up there in his favorite dishes. He will not order these anywhere else. The Fish & Chips include two large pieces of cod and house made French fries: crisp and delicious. Dessert at the LFH are a delight and we've even visited JUST for these sweet morsels. Our top picks are the homemade Key Lime Pie for its zing - perfectly sweet and tart at the same time; the Florida Sunshine Cake for its Creamsicle flavor and the homemade NY Style Cheesecake with Fresh Strawberries (fresh blueberries are also an option). They also rotate out different pies, all of which you'll find on the Dessert Plate brought table side. For those disappointed with their experience at Lynnhaven Fish House, I'm truly sorry and believe it was a fluke (no pun intended). Everyone has a bad day, on the floor and in the kitchen. We received our bill and a survey card which I promptly completed with a much shorter version of this review. I handed it directly to the manager Chris Kyrus whom thanked us "very much for visiting us. Come see us soon." It may not be an inexpensive meal, but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for: the BEST fine dining in VB.

No, just No!! This food is mediocre at best. For being considered an upscale restaurant, this place was bad. I had blackened Mahi and a baked potato,, my husband had blackened swordfish, baked potato and a cup of she crab soup. First off, terrible waitress----- we had to stop the hostess for tea refills after waiting on our waitress for 10 minutes She walked past our table several times and never stopped. The food arrives, after a L-O-N-G wait. Both of our fish was only warm, not almost hot, when I say just warm that's what I mean, and it was "wet" you know what I mean..yuck. My husband's soup was really fishy tasting, not at all like other she crab soups we have eaten, the best part of the meal was the baked potatoes, they were done perfectly, they didn't seem to be microwaved. They were hot. The view here is wonderful IF you can get a window seat. $66.00 later we got out of there, both agreeing this mistake will never happen again. Now I am not complaining about the price, because we have no problem paying for good food. This just was not good. My advice for good sea food...go else where. This place is a bunch of hype!

Service: Impeccable. Tom was young, but in every way was a veteran. He was attentive, not overbearing and provided great recommendations. Food: She-crab soup was the best soup I've ever had. Ever. My lady got the grilled rockfish and it was perfectly done, not too big not too small. I got the crab cakes. Same deal: two broiled crab cakes, perfect size. Veggies were decent, maybe could have been cooked a bit longer. Drinks: Great local beer on tap. Cold, clean. Overall: Everyone was so friendly, food was hot and quickly served, service was outstanding from all levels. Parking: Limited but free and friendly valet!
(5)Nikki K.
The best food with an ocean view. I highly recommend the oysters on the half shell. My 2 year old daughter even loves the food. It's a Virginia Beach must.
(5)Bob S.
This restaurant looks out spectacularly on Chesapeake Bay. The food is as spectacular as the view. I ordered the mahi but also sampled the hush puppies and flounder. They were excellent. An extra treat was the REAL Key Lime pie for dessert. We also learned some about the history of the restaurant from Christopher Kyrus, GM and proprietor. The restaurant is a family enterprise originally started by his father; Kyrus has served as GM for over 30 years and pays meticulous attention to his guests. This is a superb location to bring guests for wine, food, dessert and the ambience.
(4)Paul K.
Everything was great. Was told 30min wait and it was a little less. She crab soup was amazing, my wife said hush puppies were the best she's ever had, I had fried flounder with crab meat and it was delicious. Only and I mean only reason they don't get 5 stars was the price. Just a bit too high. Other than that, was great.
(4)Kelley B.
This is a really nice atmosphere... The She Crab Soup, The Fried Oyster Sandwich and The Steamed Shrimp is really good... And you can look at The Chesapeake Bay while you are enjoying your food... I highly recommend the food and the servers are very pleasant and polite... :~)...

Super delicious seafood. My mom was in town from San Diego and coincidentally 'twas my birfday.....and no I will not divulge my age because a lady never does that *wink wink giggle snort*. I made reservations ahead of time through open table for Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 unsure of how busy they would be. Turns out they were not busy at all but if I had to do it over I would always make the safe choice and make a reservation for anything more than a party of two (especially if I go back during prime time). Anyway, let's get down to business. The food: I had the fresh catch which happened to be salmon stuffed with crab with a side of vegetables and a baked potato. The salmon was PERFECTION. Flakey, buttery perfection. It really melted in my mouth. The side of vegetables was great too - summer squash. Everything on my dish was pretty damn good. When I was done stuffing my face, everyone else's plates were clear. Coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, crab cakes.....all gone. I can only assume everything was nestled in the depths of each family members intestines (Ew?)
(5)Joshua S.
The atmosphere is a bit up-scale then my usual places. Food is def. more pricey. For the location and expected clientel it's not bad though. Nice and clean everywhere ; even the bathroom. Staff was nice and friendly. Hostess sat us down, waiter came and took our drink orders. He was helpful in menu selection and reccomended lunch specials. Plus he was cute so that's always a nice thing. Hushpuppies are brought out and are good. A little on the dry side but put butter on it and omg. I had the crab cake special sandwich, fries, and a side of coleslaw. It was good. Lump crab meat, crispy fries, creamy crunchy coleslaw, yum!! Overall probably won't come back here anytime soon; but will keep it in mind when I am in the area. Nice job.

The Lynnhaven Fish House is yet another place I had fond memories of when I lived in the area. However, they just did not meet expectations on my last visit. I used to lunch here every now and again when I worked on Fort Story. The one thing I always had to have was their signature she-crab soup. I loved the creamy consistency, not too heavy, loaded with chunks of crab and served with a small bit of sherry on the side so you could adjust flavor on your own. My husband and I finally found time to stop in for lunch on our way to the beach. We sat at the bar at the front of the restaurant and each had a bowl of that soup that I had raved about. My tastes may have changed, but this bowl of soup was not the she-crab I remembered. Honestly, very few chunks of crab and somewhat bland. I hate to say, but it was rather disappointing. We also shared a salad this last visit. The salad was fresh and delicious. I liked that the dressing was evenly dispersed and not overwhelming. I can't stand a pool of dressing at the bottom of a salad. Service at the bar was great. Our bartender was personable, professional and ensured drinks were full and empty dishes were cleared timely. The wine list highlights VA wines which 10 years ago I would have scoffed at, but now seem to be coming into their own. The restaurant sits right on the bay so there are really lovely views from any table (even the bar). With so many places near the water with great fresh seafood and without the draw of the she-crab I once felt, it's very likely I'll not stop back in on a future visit to the beach. I guess some things are best left committed to memory rather than revisited.

Awww man this place was amazing the people seem like they loved to be there. The manager was there to great us soon as we walked in. He came by the table to tell us enjoy our food and let him know if we need anything. The waiter was himself and very respectful, always checked on us to make sure everything was okay. They sat us by this window where we were looking out on the beach and the water. It was lovely. I really enjoyed my time here!! This definitely get 5 stars from me.
(5)Brett S.
The Lynnhaven Fish House is one of my favorite local seafood restaurants. The food is consistently fresh and the service is always top notch. The views are superb and the atmosphere is everything that you would expect in a seafood restaurant. I personally love the Fried Seafood Platter and the She Crab Soup. I probably go to the Lynnhaven Fish House once every other year or so and I always make sure that I get those two things. Also, you can't go wrong with the hush puppies, they are always cooked to perfection. If you're looking for something fun to do after you eat, you can easily walk down to the beach and talk a walk on the sand. Highly recommend this local eatery.
(4)S M.
Went there with my mom last weekend and had an incredible meal.. Their she-crab is absolutely out of this world!! I had flounder which was good but I still think I like their crabcakes the best. Our waitress whose name is Rita, makes the whole ambience absolutely incredible. She is attentive, she is funny, and makes you feel like you're just so special. It makes me realize how much your service really changes how you look at the whole experience. We plan to go back again this week and hopefully we will have Rita again.. And a window seat to look out over the Atlantic Ocean. Best dining experience I've had this time around visiting Virginia.

Perhaps it's what I ordered today but today's lunch was just okay. I visited Lynnhaven Fish House 10 years ago and had a phenomenal experience. I sort of had high hopes despite my last visit being so long ago. I started off with the she crab soup. My honest opinion was that this was nothing exciting one bit. I found the soup to be bland in taste. Sigh... Surprisingly, I liked the hushpuppies. I never eat these but I found theirs to be pretty good. As for my main meal I went with an fried oyster sandwich. Sure, the entire menu was available but I wanted to be courteous to other person who was treating me to lunch even when it was insisted to order anything I want. After all, I always enjoy fried oysters. These oysters? Delicious. I really didn't care for the bread so I just ate the oysters one by one. Yum. I went ahead with fries but you have the option to select another side dish. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to refilling our drinks. She did a great job of showcasing all their desserts but I had to fight the urge of ordering cheesecake. Not a bad visit. Blah on the soup, pretty good sandwich...
(3)David H.
Make sure you always get at least a cup of the she crab soup. They are famous for this and it really is the best. If you get a bowl you not want to have anything else. The view is amazing even if you don't get a window seat. The service is always wonderful and they are professional as well. I had planned on eating light which is why I had the Cesar Salad with Cajun Salmon. This is the first time that I can actually say that I had too much of a salad. Humungous portions of salmon!
(5)Bill M.
The best meal ever in VA Beach I had Flounder and scallops my wife said her crab salad was the best salad she ever had. We had a piece of key lime pie for desert. As far as decor and such I didn't see anything wrong with the place. Nice view , background music was perfect level.
(4)J E.
My husband and I went here for lunch. We had the raw oysters for an app. My husband had the soft shelled crab blt (which didn't have any bacon on it) and fries for his meal. I had the flounder, Cajun style with the cole slaw. Hush puppies come for the table, and we each had an alcoholic beverage. The food was mediocre at best. The view was nice. The people were nice. The service was good. We're still looking for some spectacular food.
(3)Maria G.
One of my best go to Seafood restaurant. The staff is always so nice and friendly. For Easter Sunday there wasn't any wait so that was cool. But Has the she-crab soup change? I think they added to their recipe, this roasted garlic chips and it just didn't go well with the soup because your eating this chewy little bits of garlic. Anyways as always the food was delicious and the view relaxing.
(4)Geno P.
Had one of the best seafood meals of my life recently at LFH: Swordfish stuffed with crab as part of the Restaurant Week menu. And I'll tell you at $30, this was one of the best values I can recall anywhere. In fact, LFH probably could have cut the monster Cesar salad in half and I still would have been happy. Awesomeness part two is putting the Virginia wine bottles on the menu at $10 off. We opted for a steel chard with the swordfish and it was absolutely perfect. The meal was so satisfying, we didn't even mind that the fantastic ocean view was ruined by an otherwise foggy, dark night. I will return to LFH every single time I visit Virginia Beach. Great job!
(5)Amanda K.
Little bit of a stuffy vibe but really delicious lobster, crab and hush puppies. Get a table by the window for a nice view.
(4)Samantha A.
The food here was really good. I really enjoyed the she crab soup. However, the customer service was outstanding. My family was late getting here and they actually kept the restaurant open just for us! We were celebrating two birthdays and they were very accommodating even though we were late. Our waiter was awesome!!! His name escapes me at the minute (I'm sorry to say), but I remember him saying he was from Connecticut. He made sure we got everything and was so pleasant even though we were those annoying people keeping the restaurant open. Thanks again!
(5)Jessica E.
I came here on a weekday afternoon as an early birthday lunch. Felt a little out of place at first; I think my bf and I were the youngest in the restaurant by many years, but not a big deal. We were seated next to the window and the view was great (except for a big dead mosquito on the window sill). Started off with a bowl of she crab soup and the hushpuppies. I'm normally not a fan of hushpuppies, but these were addicting! The she crab soup was also one of the best I've had, though the bowl was smaller than I expected. I got crab cakes as my entree and my bf got a daily special. Both were also really great, and a very reasonable price for lunch. We shared a chocolate cheesecake and it was really rich and chocolatey. I left really full and was surprised at how much food we were able to get for the price. Can't wait to come back again.
(4)Denis V.
$16 for a dry plain 3 to 4 oz flounder sandwich with the bread being huge. And no tomato or onion or lettuce nothing on it. Told manager just said ok, didn't offer something else and didn't remove it. Waitresses knowledge on the menu terrible and for these prices she should know more. Their famous soup was good (average) not great not worth the price. Only thing we enjoyed was the seafood tower salad. Ambiance - like a retirement home. Oh and our food took about 25-30 min to come out. This place is soo not worth it trust me !

This is about my sixth visit here; normally it's an hour's drive, but with my wife working in Norfolk for a year it's now much closer. Which, believe me, is a very good thing! We've never had an experience or meal here that didn't rate five stars. The atmosphere here on the beach is calming, and the spirit of the place is relaxed and friendly, but nicely civilized. The waitstaff is attentive and the manager on duty - always the same fellow on all our visits - always stops by for a friendly chat. This evening I had time to kill and told Tom, my waiter, so; he paced my 90+ minute stay perfectly. The fresh grilled swordfish was perfect and hush puppies did the South proud. An excellent premium margarita was a good starter and tasty decaf (all too rare) and home-made Key lime pie was the perfect finish. Kudos all around.

After being a bit disappointed with some of the offerings closer to the strip on Virginia Beach, we ventured out to Lynnhaven earlier this month based on good reviews and the promise of waterfront dining. Very glad that we did! Overall, an excellent experience. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed, with great views of the bay. The food was great, including the much-discussed she-crab soup. Attentive and kind service, too. This is a pricier spot than others in the area, but it's well worth it for the comfortable dining experience and excellent food.
(5)EBeth S.
You will not be disapppinted. This is an old school fine dining experience with stellar food and service We've been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. The menu is fairly priced for the high quality food offered and the chef staff is inventive, with delicious new offerings available. My new favorite is the seafood tower. Amazing. My family gets the fresh catch prepares to order. Everyone's happy.

I dined at Lynnhaven Fish House for dinner a few nights ago and found it outstanding. I was with a group of 6, some of which had never been to the East coast before and some of them lifetime locals of Virginia Beach - all came away impressed with the quality of the food. The restaurant sits right on the lip of the Chesapeake Bay with a pier stretching out over the water. The pier itself has it's own bar/cafe (and is currently being renovated after some rough weather) but the restaurant offers stunning views of the beach and water. Those at the table ordered food ranging from soft shelled crab to fresh grouper and all were well exceptionally satisfied with their meal. I had freshly caught Mahi Mahi grilled with cajun seasoning, and it was spectacular. It was cooked perfectly, and the meat had just the right texture. The portions were all very generous and no one had room for dessert, though the dessert menu was very enticing. The meal was also very reasonably priced ($24 for fresh fish of the day). I can promise that I will return here, but I wasn't the only one impressed. A local of Virginia Beach for 25 years after coming for the first time stated how impressed she was and that she will certainly be returning as well.

Good service. Their Pier Planter Punch was delicious and they weren't stingy with the alcohol. The complimentary hushpuppies tasted sweet. I ordered their she crab soup (since they were voted Silver according to the VA Pilot). I was disappointed in the she crab soup. It, also, tasted sweet. I ordered the fried soft shell special, and I found that the soft shell crabs were a bit salty. On another note, the view is breathtaking!

Would not recommend. The food was not good at all, the atmosphere was not great and it was far too expensive for the unsatisfactory experience. It's one redeeming quality was the kind staff.

We were struggling to find a good spot in va beach as everything on the strip seamed to be commercial. So glad I did some research and found this spot. The service was very good and food was excellent. My fish was fresh and crab cakes are amazing. Dessert was also fabulous! Nice and casual on the water... we will def return. Worth the 15 min drive.
(5)Merideth J.
Amazing! Had a wonderful server and the soft shell crab was the best I've ever had (all the other food was just as good).
(5)Edwina F.
They have happy hour from 3-630...it would be nice if they train staff on what drinks & appetizers are on happy hour...SMH. I'm giving the service a TWO STAR!
(2)Paul B.
My family and I have been coming here for over 18 years and the food and service is top notch. During tourist season I recommend you go early or your gonna have to wait for a table for at least an hour.

You'd think that Virginia Beach would be replete with wonderful seafood restaurants, and there are probably more in VB than in many other coastal towns. That being said, it seems that the seafood places in VB that serve pre-portioned, breaded, deep-fat-fried, frozen seafood greatly outnumber those that serve fresh, locally-sourced seafood! This is a bitter disappointment to those who are looking for fresh, innovatively-prepared seafood dishes. If you want a platter of clam strips and a beer served on styrofoam at a picnic table, my recommendation would be to head over to Bubba's down the street. On the other hand, if you want an elegant dinner with attentive service at a price that won't require you to pawn Mama's brooch, this is your kind of place. The staff at the bar are helpful and friendly - I would just as easily sit at the bar as I would at a table. Besides mixing a mean cocktail, these folks really know their beers and wines. The food is fresh, artfully prepared, and proudly served. Not-to-miss menu items include the she crab soup, the Seafood Tower (a meal in itself!), or their outstanding crab cakes! There is even the option to build your own seafood dish by selecting 2 or 3 seafood items from the "platter" menu. Save room for dessert - their key lime pie is the best I've ever had anywhere! You cannot leave this restaurant without being full - portions are generous. Chris Kyrus has been managing the restaurant for the family since the 1980s. It would be a rare evening that you would not be personally greeted by Chris at some point during dinner.

My family and I went there for my cousins graduation. And they were so polite and friendly. I was very happy with the service from the valet to checkout. The food tasted amazing, the view was beautiful, and I definitely plan on coming back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you to lynnhaven fish house for a wonderful experience and another great family memory.

This place gets great marks for the view and the waitstaff. Most of the food was very good with the exception of the seafood quiche which was heavy and had a somewhat lacking flavor. As a lover of quiche, this was disappointing especially because of the cost. There were lots of seafood in it so just a lighter version would be great. The oyster sandwich used local oysters and was great. The hush puppies were tasty and I don't usually like fried foods. The she crab soup was also pleasant. For dessert, the hot fudge sundae was huge and full of chocolate sauce. The peanut butter pie was heavenly and the highlight of the meal!
(4)Jim W.
Great view great food excellent she crab soup. Easy to get in without a reservation yet busy
(4)Noel R.
We went there for lunch on Sunday after church.. Big mistake! It took over 30 minutes to have our order taken and then almost an hour to get lunch! I order seared tuna (medium rare) and it was cooked all the way through! it was dryer than microwave fish. When I told our server it was not good she looked at me as if I was crazy. She said no one has ever said that before.. Then she went to the kitchen had another piece of tuna cooked add another 30 minutes, that was just as bad. I didn't even complain because I just really wanted to leave. The overall ambiance of the place is outdated. On top of that they have tacky Christmas lights strung through the restaurant. For the price and the location I expected a much better place. Definitely not a place to go if fresh is the number one thing on your list! This is one sea food restaurant I will never eat at again.
(1)Ellen M.
We had a nice meal of crab cakes with sauteed vegetables, a salad, she-crab soup. the service was just right, and the crab cakes were delectable.
(4)Larry T.
Great service, friendly staff and wonderfully made fish. The outlook on the ocean gives the place a wonderful vacation feel. We try to come here anytime we visit the Virginia Beach area - one of the few restaurants that know how to make fresh fish.

A couple Saturdays ago, my wife called the restaurant in the afternoon to reserve a table for five at 6:30 that evening. She was told they were not taking any more reservations that evening for parties larger than four because they were holding those tables open for possible walk-in customers. She asked how busy the restaurant was at that time and was told there would probably be some tables available. This policy is interesting to us. The restaurant is willing to forego a sure thing with reservations in order to keep tables open for potential walk-ins. Never heard of that before. Oh, well. Too bad. The Lynnhaven Fish House has good food and good table service but we won't be going back. Too many other equally good or better restaurants in the area that have more welcoming reservation policies.

1st of all this was my birthday dinner. James our waiter was VERY nice he made us feel right at home. He was very good @ suggesting how our lobster should be cooked. The food was really good I had stuffed flounder & a side of crab legs. The cheesecake was so good some of the best I have EVER tasted. Hang in there James you did a good job Thanks ! ps. the hushpuppies were good too !
(5)Teressa L.
We had a good lunch today. Crab stuffed mushrooms were juicy and had good flavor. Fried flounder was very tasty! Scallops lynnhaven had crab and cheese on top but the crab wasnt as tasty as the apprtizer. Hush puppies here are good. Can't beat the views!!! Service was ok. She seemed to disappear at times though. Oh they serve a Florida Sunshine cake--you have to try it. Sharing didn't work out for us ;-)

We went to dinner with our 2 children. We had a nice server and the meal was prepared fast and was tasty. All in all a nice place to go for dinner.

If you don't have $100 to start with and you have a guest then this place isn't for you. Parking is great. Very casual feeling here. The staff is very friendly and will help you find the perfect meal option. From the starters to the main course, everything is simply magnificent...... Then the desserts are no joke at all. The best desserts I've ever had. I had a orange sherbet ice cream cake!!! Awesome awesome awesome. Dessert was so great I forgot what I had for dinner. Lol. I come to this place all the time. It's worth the money and time here.
(5)Beverly W.
We loved the restaurant. Very nice staff. We had Christi B who was so kind and made sure we were welcome. She answered all our questions. The food was fab. I had the flounder with the wonderful lobster cream sauce. It made the flounder extra special. My husband had the mahi with Christo sauce and he did not care for the sauce as he wished he went with the lobster sauce. Both fishes were fresh. We had the she crab soup which was good, but not something you could say, you must have. The flavored raspberry lemonade was so wonderful! The water views are visible from all tables. Highly recommend for a nice meal, great service and views.
(5)Judy C.
One of my favorite restaurants. I have been going there since it opened. The food is fresh and delicious. If I go for lunch I usually get fresh fish of some sort grilled with a wonderful side salad. They always bring hushpuppies which are very good. My favorite in season is the soft shell crab. Divine! The service is excellent and you can't beat the view of our beautiful Bay!
(4)Frank E.
A solid 4 to 4 1/2. Great atmosphere. On the water. Great date night or special occasion spot. The free hush puppies in place of bread was a very nice touch and really tasty. Our fish dishes were very fresh and seasoned nicely. We had the cream of crab soup, Caesar salad, stuffed swordfish, and broiled flounder. Will definitely return.

My parents were visiting and they wanted to try a local fish restaurant. We decided to take them here. We were returning from Williamsburg and got stuck in traffic. It was getting late and were all hungry. I called the restaurant to ask how busy they were and whether they could seat a party of 10 anytime soon. They said they would be able to and to head on over. By the time we got there they had a table ready for us (my tired parents were very pleased by this). Everyone working there was professional and friendly. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The view is probably spectacular, but it was too dark to see. The food was all very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the clean bathrooms (hard to find in restaurants these days). I LOVE the motion sensors for the door in the bathroom. I hate touching the bathroom door after I have washed my hands. So, this was awesome!!! The entire experience was nice and we look forward to returning again.

Prices were fairly steep for the amount of food. Food was relatively bland. Good service great views. Overall so so.

My husband and I ate lunch here. We were surrounded by retired people! All of the servers were older, too. Made us feel a little out of place. However, the food made up for it! We started with she-crab soup, which I highly recommend. It was creamy with solid bits of crab and was served with a cruet of sherry. My husband had the crabcake, which was really a large scoop of delicately seasoned crab with little breading. It was lightly fried in the bottom, with a creamy champagne sauce. It was spectacular and I wish I had ordered it. I had a medium rare tuna steak with ginger soy sauce. It was a little tough and nothing special. The place needs a makeover! It feels stuffy and old-fashioned. It was expensive and I probably won't go back.
(3)A L.
had lunch there today for mother's day. Didn't have to wait but got there kinda early. Service was terrible but still left a HUGE tip since it was mother's day. I felt bad for her and she was very nice. 1st off the prices there are through the roof, higher then the last time I was there!!! The food quality not worth the price!! We had oysters and didn't eat them all because they had a bad after taste. I know oysters and they were not good. she asked if she could bring us out 5 new ones and we said NO. I didn't want 5 more of the same gross ones but I did think she would have offered a free dessert or something but she did not. Crab soup was nice. Better places to eat in the area for the cost. Sorry but save your money and skip this one.

We've lived in the area for almost 2 years and went to the Lynnhaven Fish House for the first time for lunch today. It was ok. We probably won't be back simply because there are better places in the area--especially at a similar or better price point. The good things: some tables have a nice view, very friendly staff. Our waitress was excellent. The bad things: the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The quality of food wasn't worth the price. I had the seafood quiche and thought the crust was pretty gross. It was soggy and flavorless. The shrimp and scallops in the quiche were overcooked, but I suppose that's not uncommon when baked in a quiche. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad and he shared an appetizer sampler with my daughter which they both liked well enough. The hush puppies were good. My son ordered from the kid's menu and chose popcorn shrimp. Many restaurants treat kid's meals as an after thought and this was no different. His entree was from a frozen bag. But it was reasonably priced for what it was and he had a number of side options to choose from which is nice. The overall environment is very outdated. During lunch on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, we were one of maybe 8-10 tables of people. We didn't even fill 1/4 of the restaurant. Generally, despite our great waitress and friendly hostess, it was an underwhelming but pricy experience for a weekend lunch for a family of 4.

went on a Friday night, at 8pm, with a group of friends/family. SheCrab Soup was very delicious and worth getting - everyone raved about it. had the seared tuna with wasabi sauce, very good. had the mint ice cream, wonderful dessert. the Wait Staff were helpful, quick, and more than accommodating. no 5th star because menu on Yelp and restaurant website had incorrect prices, more expensive than i thought. not that that should stop anyone from going, just cannot go as often as i would like for the excellent quality of food. definitely recommend, and i will be back.

Hands down the best and freshest seafood I have had in the HR area. What I never understood is that HR is by the coast. Whether there is fish or not in the area, there should always always be good seafood. People talk about good seafood and tell me to go to AW Shucks or 456 fish. If that is what you call good, then the bar is set real low. I finally found this place after seeing an advertisement at the Norfolk Airport (I refuse to use the world "international" until I actually take a flight out of there to a real foreign country and not somewhere like Florida). I was stunned that they don't take reservations so you need to get there early and you need to anticipate a wait! They have everything you would expect to find at a good seafood place from fresh local catches to delicious fresh lobster. Decorated with the typical fisherman's decor, you walk in knowing what you're getting yourself into. It's pricey! Go all out though because it's worth it. My recommendation: Fresh flounder (it's local) and get it stuffed with lump crab meat. Probably the best fish dish I've had in the US and I eat a lot of fish. Their Manhattan clam chowder is good too, but it has a little too many potatoes for my liking. My friend ordered the Cajun Catfish and it came with a cool wasabe sauce which turned out to be phenomenal. They have a nice list of desserts and, o yah!, don't forget the fried soft shell crab!

Excellent food .. So fresh and tasty.. The oyster are big and tasty.. I'm very satisfied with the food..
(4)Jessica J.
My husband and I went here for our birthday dinner last night and the food was delicious. My husband had the Neptune platter and loved every bite especially the stuffed shrimp. The snow crab legs were delicious and the hush puppies are perfect and plentiful. Even though we told them when we made our reservation that it was a special occasion we were seated in practically the only spot in the restaurant without a view. Right next to the bathroom in a mirrored corner? Really? Our server was rather curt and took my food away to box it before I was finished. I was literally still opening a crab leg when she swiped my butter and brought the box. So, overall a delicious meal but the seating and service left quite a bit to be desired. We'll probably still go back but specifically request a good view.
(4)Brianna W.
The experience was awful for our friends birthday dinner out. There were friendly smiles and the food was ok but nothing to bring us back. We wanted our bill split and we were all happy to pay our fair share but it took over 30 minutes to get it sorted, and in the end if was still mixed up. My husband ordered a $30 meal and had a large plate and I had a $25 pick two meal and it was a tiny portion- the food all seemed to be barely seasoned and on the dry side. Two people ordered bloody Mary's and one came without alcohol... In contrast, The she crab soup was the best we had ever tasted.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time here. We were down at the beach and decided to come up for a beer. During the time we had a few drinks, appetizer and dessert we socialized with the staff and had a great time. Service and food is amazing!! Highly recommend!
(5)Beth A.
Great for large parties and kids. Especially recommended if you have a group. Recommended items- catfish, crab cakes, barramundi, shrimp scampi. Service impeccable when we were there.
(4)Meredith V.
We really enjoyed our dinner here, although because of the tornado/monsoon that randomly struck the area we were not able to enjoy these amazing views everyone raves about. Instead we focused our views on the bar. The sommelier was very hospitable and you could tell he was very enthusiastic about wine without being pretentious, which is always refreshing. The bar staff was great and voluntarily let us taste a few of their wines and even some that were not on the menu. At $5/glass, their house wines were pretty good, although I stuck to the John Adlum stainless steel chardonnay from the Williamsburg Winery. Keepin it local! We were really torn about what to order, as there were so many great things on the menu. We started out with a cup of the she-crab soup, which apparently is award winning. It was okay. For entrees I ordered the Mediterranean salad (probably the most impressive, bountiful salad I have ever seen) and my husband ordered the mahi with the christo sauce. AH-MAZING. This is really a great place for some fresh catch, I just wished we lived closer. I'd like to return and sit in the dining room to experience the sweeping views of the beach. Don't miss!
(4)Max W.
The food is prepared without much flair nor flavor. Very basic and heavy! The decor is very old fashioned, hence the influx of the elderly crowd! Certainly could do with some freshening up! Service was impeccable though and the server made the experience enjoyable. If you want so-so food with a view..this is your spot! Definitely not a special occasion location. More a lunch spot
(3)Kasie R.
Absolutely delicious food, fantastic location, and the staff was SO friendly. It was a family establishment atmosphere in an upscale environment. Very classy. Great, fresh menu. One major complaint: The guest I was with had a severe gluten allergy. We made that clear to the server, who recommended gluten free dishes. The dish my guest ordered had gravy in it; we double checked to make sure it was gluten free, since most gravy has flour in it, and the server told us it should be. Turns out it definitely wasn't, and my guest ended up sick that night. The table next to us had a similar experience with a different server, who recommended dishes with actual bread in them after the guest explained his allergy (though they were better than we were at making the final menu choice). We are used to being careful and NEVER expect a restaurant to cater to our allergy or even have a gluten free menu...we work around their kitchen. But it is nice if the serving staff is at least educated on the menu ingredients (or even just say they will ask the chef if they don't know) so that we can make food choices that don't end up in a bad reaction. Sort that part out and it's five stars!

I found a recommendation for this restaurant in the Southwest Airlines magazine on my way to Virgina. It gave it a high rating and it's located by the beach so my friend and i took the plunge and went there for lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was good and filling. But the price for what we got was not worth it. I must admit, that I am not a fan of hush puppies but they changed my mind. Their hush puppies were delicious. I travel a lot and have had the best, fresh seafood in Atlanta. But I wouldn't recommend anyone coming to Lynnhaven Fish House. The menu options weren't that great. I looked at the lunch and dinner menus and settled on my order.
(2)Mike M.
The Lynnhaven Fish House never disappoints. The service here is always great and the food is fantastic. I got the crab-stuffed shrimp and my wife got the swordfish. Both dishes were amazing. I don't eat a lot of swordfish, but if I could have it they way they prepared it I could eat it every day. The Hush Puppies are the best in town. They also have a great selection of local brews on tap O'Connor from Norfolk and St. George out of Hampton.

The hostesses need to learn how to quote wait time for tables. Party of 10 and she said we could sit separately in 45 minutes or together in 1.5 hours. After 45 minutes I ask how much longer for either. "a bit". I'm not quite sure how long that is, apparently neither was she. We finally sat down and my sister had gotten martinis at the bar. She got happy hour prices and also bread ($4) for $18. The waitress was taking a while to greet the table, so I went to the bar to get drinks for three of us. A drink special, martini and beer was $24. I asked about happy hour and bartender said that it's just for people at the bar waiting, that since I was now sat at a table I was charged full price. He was nice enough to adjust it, but how rude of the restaurant. He basically said they screw you when you sit down. Actually he did say that. Food was good for the most part. My mom felt a bit ripped off getting a few shrimp and scallops for $30. Spinach sounded good, but had an odd flavor to it. Won't be going back next time I'm in Virginia Beach.
(3)Bruce K.
Fantastic views of the beach and the bridge/tunnel and the freighters at anchor out on the water. The place probably gets their fish from the local market, so it's no fresher for being on the beach, but it still feels fresh. I really recommend sticking with the locally caught stuff if you can and avoid the salmon and other stuff that's flown in from elsewhere. The crowd here is definitely older. At lunch time on a weekday, I was probably the youngest person in here by a good thirty years. Even my mom had a decade or two on the lower end of the bell curve. A couple of wheelchairs and hospital bracelets could be seen. But that's okay, because the food is terrific. Fresh. Clean. Delicious. I found my eye caught by the filet of flounder sandwich, which arrived on a toasted bun with a small stack of steak fries and a pile of cole slaw with a small pot of tartar sauce. I ate everything. President of the Clean Plate Club without a doubt! I'd say the only knock I have of the place was that the steak fries seemed to be standard store-bought. They could really do better by picking up some hand cut fries with skins. I think it would add to the flavor immensely, but that's just me. Parking is easy enough, but I recommend leaving plenty of room if there isn't a valet on duty. These octogenarians in their Lincolns might not be too good behind the wheel, ifyaknowwhattimean.
(4)Adam W.
My wife and I went there for a slower weekday and we were given a perfect view to the beach and the pier. The food was excellent. The she crab, seabass and her crab cakes were delicious. As an appetizer, we have some raw crabs from the different regions. Delicious as well.
(4)Jay L.
We had a family dinner with 10 family members total, and we loved it. The hush-puppies were the hit of the night! I know it is strange, and we aren't hush puppy fans, we weren't starving, we don't all weigh 400 pounds, and we also loved our entrees, however the hushpuppies were devoured by all with many oohs and ahhs and of course, MMMMMMmmm. The she crab soup was hit or miss, but we had never had she crab soup before, so we didn't know what to expect. The oysters were great, we had a variety of different fresh catches of the day with different sauces, crab/lobster cakes, Alaskan King crab legs were good and i had the sesame encrusted yellowfin tuna. All I can say is try the whatever you like, it was all prepared nicely and delicious. Our server was Christi, and I would give many accolades to her service. She went out of her way for us and was outstanding. Christi is the reason I gave this review 5 stars instead of 4. Try out the Lynnhaven Fish House, the view is nice, the parking is easy, yes it is a tourist destination, but there is a reason people keep coming back. I know i would come back and I hope that someone reads this review and gives it a try. Did I mention the Hushpuppies? I should have taken some home in my pocket.

Really good meal tonight. Was looking for fresh and local seafood being that I'm from San Antonio, TX and we don't have as many places for fresh caught fish. Took the drive out here and was pleased. They've got local done right. This is a coastal casual kind of place, with a touch of class. Fresh caught fish, local craft brews, though they've got all the fried favorites if that's your kind of thing. Great wait staff, down to earth an very friendly. I felt like I was having dessert first with the expertly done hushpuppies, with a crisp exterior and soft interior, and the award-winning she-crab soup. Then came the local Mahi, grilled, plain, with a side of veggies. You can get your fresh fish finished off with all kinds of toppings and flavors, but I prefer it simple to let the fish shine. My only problem here was the veggies, sautéed though with an overhelping of grease.
(4)Jon P.
Large price and small portions. Had fresh flounder and a tiny sweet potato. The fish was good but to have a decent sized meal with 2 vegetables with a salad would cost $ 50 per person.
(2)Jen K.
You can get a better price for fresh seafood in the area, I have to imagine. If its so dang fresh, why are you charging stupid prices? Ok, so $30 for a seafood dinner may not sound THAT bad. But c'mon, I could've had a better seafood platter at Red Lobster for cheaper. A million stars for our server, she was top notch. We had a group of 8 in town for a wedding and several of us were picky and wanted separate checks. She didn't roll her eyes or give us any attitude...like my friend said, "I felt like we were in her living room, she was so nice and welcoming." I couldn't put it better. But blah to the food. Ok not entirely true...the hushpuppies were tasty and the salad with feta and vinaigrette was a delicious precursor. The She Crab soup was pretty good too, get it with some fresh pepper and add a little sherry (just a little though). It's won awards (not sure which awards, but they'll tell you all over the place that it is award-winning). They had a good selection of local beers on draft. But, I ordered King Neptune's Banquet $29.99 and my husband ordered the scallop entree ($29.99). My meal contained 5 scallops, a piece of "trout" (the server kept saying it was a special trout that tasted like salmon...but gee, it tasted exactly like salmon and not even close to trout), 2 oysters Rockefeller (ok but tasted reheated), and two stuffed shrimp. It also came with one side (I opted for the sweet potato). The food was all pretty decent, the scallops were large and lightly-flavored. The shrimp was a little tough/overcooked. Oysters were tasty but like I said, tasted reheated. And the trout tasted like salmon. I was pretty let down for $30. NOW, my husband's dish...he paid the same price for his scallop dish (with a side of steamed veggies), and he only received 8 scallops. How does that make any sense? He got screwed. He could've had 3 less scallops and had a bunch of other food for the same price. Also, his scallops were covered in gouda, which sounded weird at the time...and we were right. He was hoping maybe he'd discover a new fantastic way to eat scallops, but no. Don't put gouda on scallops, case closed. Like I said, I can't say the food was terrible. It was just ok in my opinion. I've had better meals at Red Lobster for less money. I feel bad saying that, because the restaurant is nice and the staff was great/attentive.
